Sir Keir Starmer insists he does not need to see legal advice in Angela Rayner two home row

Richard Holden, the Conservative Party chairman, has written to Sir Keir and Ms Rayner, saying: “You have pledged to uphold requirements in public life, however the failure by you and your deputy to reply the only questions on this matter makes a mockery of those claims.

“Given the clear public curiosity in this case, your unwillingness to examine this absolutely to date, and even trouble to take a look at legal advice Ms Rayner claims to have acquired, is a damning indictment of your management.”

Jack Lopresti MP, Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party, stated Sir Keir should commit to an impartial inquiry into the difficulty.

He stated: “Sir Keir Starmer is deliberately trying to avoid dealing with a serious ethics scandal engulfing his deputy because he is too weak to lead. It goes to show that for all the bluster, he hasn’t changed the Labour Party at all. Angela Rayner has clearly not been telling the truth about where she lived. Sir Keir must order an independent inquiry to get to the bottom of the matter.”

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) can be dealing with stress from Conservatives who’ve accused the power of failing to take into account the paperwork or contact witnesses after it stated Ms Rayner would not face an investigation.

GMP stated: “We have received a complaint regarding our decision not to investigate an allegation and are in the process of reassessing this decision. The complainant will be updated with the outcome of the reassessment in due course.”

The declare about Ms Rayner’s council home originated in Red Queen? The Unauthorised Biography of Angela Rayner by Lord Ashcroft, a former Tory peer.
