Using a mixture of acrylics, gouache, and ink, Yellena James cultivates brightly-hued ecosystems ripe with traces, patterns, and nature-based motifs. The Portland-based artist paints natural varieties that resemble each marine species like coral and kelp along with full-bloom flowers, creating good, labyrinth-like ecosystems. Although Prussian blue ink has been a mainstay in James’s observe for years, she not too long ago found that the particular shade serves as a treatment for sure poisonous metallic poisonings.
