At least 12 individuals have been killed and dozens injured Saturday in a crush at a soccer stadium in the capital of El Salvador, the National Civil Police (PNC) mentioned on Twitter.
“The first information points to a stampede of fans who tried to enter to watch the match between Alianza and FAS” at the Cuscatlán Stadium, the PNC mentioned.
Salvadoran Health Minister Francisco Alabi mentioned on Twitter that emergency groups had been deployed and the injured have been being transferred to native hospitals.
Around 90 individuals, together with minors, are being handled for accidents – most are in “stable” situation, he added.
President Nayib Bukele mentioned an “exhaustive investigation” into the incident could be carried out by the nationwide police and the legal professional basic’s workplace.
“Everyone will be investigated: teams, managers, stadium, ticket office, league, federation, etc. Whoever the culprits are, they will not go unpunished,” Bukele tweeted.
