Benjamin Mendy has made an on the spot return to football just five days after being cleared of rape and tried rape, with the previous Manchester City defender becoming a member of French club Lorient.

Mendy, 28, was accused of finishing up intercourse assaults on two ladies at his £4million mansion, solely to be cleared after three hours of deliberation by a jury at Chester Crown Court final Friday. 

The France worldwide had already been cleared of six counts of rape and one rely of sexual assault after a court docket case in January.

And five days after being cleared as a free man, Mendy has already returned to football after signing with Lorient.

In a club statement on Wednesday, the Ligue 1 outfit confirmed he has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and can put on the No 5 shirt.

Mendy, who final performed for City again in August 2021, formally left the Premier League champions when his contract expired earlier this month. Lorient have been due to this fact in a position to signal him on a free switch.
