Ex-Senate President Wayas’ body arrives Nigeria after three years
The body of the late Senate President, Joseph Wayas, has arrived in Nigeria after about three years since his dying.
Wayas, who was the Senate President between October 1, 1979 and December 31, 1983, died in a London hospital on November 30, 2021, on the age of 80 after a protracted sickness.
His first spouse died 12 days after however whereas his spouse had since been buried, the revered politician’s stays had remained in a morgue in London, a growth that had sparked controversies.
The stays of the previous Senate president have been on board from Heathrow Airport London within the United Kingdom by way of British Airways 083 and arrived on the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 4:40 am (Local time).
His body was acquired by Jarigbe Agom, Peter Akpanke, household, kinsmen and different stakeholders acquired and deposited his stays within the Morgue on the National Hospital, Abuja.
Speaking to journalists on the venue, Jarigbe thanked the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu for facilitating the repatriation of the late former Senate President, from London, including that he’s assured that the governor will give the previous elder statesman a befitting burial.
The lawmaker thanked the management of the stakeholders for his or her collaborative effort and help.
Dignitaries have since then proceeded to signal the condolence register on the deceased’s Asokoro residence in Abuja.
Other stakeholders and leaders in attendance embody; Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, Jonny Agim, SAN, and Hon. Cletus Obun amongst others.
