Exclusive: Oman’s Royal Opera bans Israeli mezzo on safety grounds

Next month, the Opera Carlo Felice of Genoa is taking its manufacturing of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the Royal Opera House of Muscat, within the Sultanate of Oman.

But one key singer can be lacking. Hagar Sharvit, who performs the function of Hermia, has been instructed she can not be a part of the forged. The motive given is concern for her safety.

The Royal Opera’s Director General and Artistic Director is the Italian Umberto Fanni. We have requested him for remark.
