Ms Brownlee stated Mr Hilditch was deeply rooted in his neighborhood and was “passionate and dedicated” to Carrickfergus.

“Personally, I could never thank Davy enough for the time and dedication he gave me. Without his belief in me I would not be where I am today, and I know there are so many here today who feel the same,” she continued.

“He was a proud working-class man who at all times had Carrickfergus on the very coronary heart of all the pieces he did.

“He dedicated his life to serving and sacrificed a lot, even when he was struggling himself.

“He was fiercely loyal, reliable and sincere — these qualities I admired for therefore lengthy and made him stand out from the gang.
