High street dealt major blow as retailer set to close 100 stores with 7 shutting next month

A complete of seven branches will shut next month as the corporate appears to be like to develop its presence in supermarkets.
Argos, which is owned by Sainsbury’s, put the shutters up at 45 stores within the final 12 months.
However, the retailer managed to open 25 branches in Sainsbury’s grocery store stores.

Grimsby’s Alexandria Argos will relocate to Sainsbury’s on August 9 or 10.
Scunthorpe’s Argos may even switch to a grocery store retailer simply on August 15 or 16.
Argos may even close its retailer in Hull’s St Stephen’s buying centre on August 8.
A brand new department in Sainsbury’s close by Hessle outlet will open the next day on August 9.

Other closures have been scheduled for Riverside in Norwich, Bridgend’s Parc Plaza, Cardiff Bay and Cardiff’s Newport Road.
Stores have already shut throughout Coventry, Nottingham, Lanarkshire and Birkenhead.
A spokesperson for Argos mentioned: “The transformation of our Argos retailer and distribution community has been progressing at tempo for a number of years now, bettering availability, comfort and repair for purchasers.
“As a part of this we’re persevering with to open new Argos stores and assortment factors in a lot of our Sainsbury’s supermarkets, enabling prospects to buy 1000’s of know-how, house and toy merchandise from Argos whereas selecting up their groceries.”

Sainsbury’s introduced its plan to close as many as 420 Argos stores in November 2020.
