Jeremy Vine says thoughts are with presenter after wife goes public
Jeremy Vine, who had earlier referred to as for the presenter to return ahead publicly, mentioned his thoughts had been with Edwards at this tough time.
“What a sad, sad story this is,” Vine mentioned on his Channel 5 present. “I’m thinking of my colleague, who is unwell.”
Vine mentioned there have been inquiries to be requested about The Sun’s authentic story, and what proof the newspaper had seen to help the mother and father’ allegation that Edwards had made funds of £35,000 to their youngster in alternate for pictures.
“You have to be certain before you run something that destroys a man, and it now looks like he very sadly is in a terrible way… a man who is apparently in a very, very devastated mental condition.”
He added: “I wonder whether we may be heading for the mother of all libel actions here.”
Neil Wallis, former deputy editor of The Sun, mentioned the story had been respectable, and identified that it was adopted up by the BBC itself.
“The BBC in particular, quite apart from The Sun, has led the way in revealing new allegations against their own presenter,” Wallis mentioned.
