Labour poll lead over Tories narrows in blow to Starmer after local elections
The Conservative Party lacked a “coherent message” on the local elections and should guarantee it enters the final election with “all guns blazing”, a Tory MP mentioned this morning.
Justin Tomlinson, a former minister, instructed Times Radio that it felt just like the Tories had “forgotten” to launch their local elections marketing campaign.
He mentioned: “We had the Labour Party launch in Swindon. I believe anyone would wrestle to know the place our launch was.
“We did not have a coherent message. If you’re going to struggle a set of elections, whether or not it is a parliamentary by-election, local elections, or the final election, you have to have a coherent message.
“And that’s the point about this being a wake up call. I’ve been listening to your coverage around Eurovision this morning, it’d be like us sending our performer on Saturday in with no backing performers or stage production, you just can’t do that. It doesn’t matter what level of elections it is. You have to go in all guns blazing.”
