Nadine Dorries: Former minister stands down as Tory MP

Former Conservative minister Nadine Dorries has introduced she is standing down as an MP.

The former tradition secretary and shut ally of Boris Johnson stated she was standing down “with immediate effect” after “something significant” occurred to vary her thoughts.

It means there can be a by-election in her Mid Bedfordshire constituency, the place she has a majority of 24,664.
