Spring is about to…spring. But have you learnt what else is ready for us? Nintendo Life eShop Selects and the brand new Readers Choice winner for February 2024.
As at all times, employees and contributors at Nintendo Life determine on the highest three by an inner vote, all from eShop video games we have reviewed on the positioning that have been launched that month. And then, for the Reader’s Choice, you pretty lot have been voting on your favorite eShop sport that we have missed out on. You’ll see your prime three on the backside of the article.
Anyway, February was a busy month, wasn’t it? A Partner Showcase, shadow-drops — it has been lots to juggle. Let’s see what gems we will get on the eShop this month.
Honourable mentions
As at all times, under is a listing of video games that did not fairly get sufficient votes from the Nintendo Life employees and writers to make the highest three. These all received at the least an 8/10 from us, and even from this shortlist, you’ll be able to see simply how robust a month we have had on the eShop.
Nintendo Life’s honourable mentions
Oh look! It’s Game Freak’s greatest sport, lastly on the Switch. We’re not speaking about Pokémon, however Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!, a remake of one in all our favorite 3DS video games right here at Nintendo Life. C’mon, when you’ve been studying the positioning, you realize we’re mad for this one. Solitaire and horse racing make for a dream mixture and even when you do not love the gameplay, the hilarious writing and charming visuals will nonetheless win you over. We known as Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! the “prize pony” in our evaluation and awarded it a 9/10.
Obsidian’s medieval homicide thriller Pentiment was known as a “hidden gem” again on the Xbox and PC when it was launched in 2022. Now it is on Switch (and PS5), and on the little hybrid console, it is by no means felt extra at dwelling. Blending RPG components with point-and-click gameplay, Pentiment is an actual labour of affection that celebrates typefaces, font, the Medieval, and simply darn good storytelling. It earned a 10/10 for us on Switch and we’re glad we waited to do that one out.
Well, nicely, nicely… we heard you, readers, and also you have been completely proper. Balatro is implausible.
Balatro was initially one of many choices on our Reader’s Choice vote, however so a lot of you chimed in to shout about this good roguelite deckbuilder that we folded and checked it out for ourselves. Breaking poker with tarot playing cards, planet playing cards, and particular jokers is satisfyingly addictive. It pipped the Obsidian homicide thriller by simply one vote in our employees ballot, but it surely’s clear out of your votes and its victory within the eShop Selects vote that Balatro is a must-play and performs a profitable hand.
In our evaluation, we awarded it a worthy 10/10. Yes, our second ‘Outstanding’ rating in a single week! Blimey.
eShop Selects Reader’s Choice Winner (February 2024)
WINNER: Golfinite
With late evaluation arrivals Balatro and Penny’s Big Breakaway operating away with the reader ballot in first and second place with a really good 69% of the vote, we’re scootching on down the record to the subsequent candidate for this month’s Reader’s Choice winner: Mario Golf-alike Golfinite.
We’re large followers of the unique GBC Mario Golf, and this top-down ball-whacker (ouch) definitely seems the half — we’re happy to listen to it performs the half, too. It’ll be reserving a tee time on our wishlist.

< Nintendo eShop Selects – January 2024
How we determine our eShop Selects prime three: As we attain the tip of each month, the Nintendo Life employees vote on their favorite titles from a listing of video games chosen by the editorial crew. To qualify for this record, these video games should have been launched as a digital-only Nintendo Switch eShop title in that specific month, and should have been reviewed on Nintendo Life; we choose the qualifying video games based mostly on their evaluation scores.
Staff are then requested to vote for 3 video games that they suppose deserve to take a seat proper on the very prime of that record; first alternative will get 3 factors, second alternative will get 2 factors, and third alternative will get 1 level. These votes are then tallied to create a top-three record, with the general winner taking that month’s prime prize.
