Ongoing Edinburgh Waverley disruption after signal failure standstill

The important journey disruption on Thursday which left lots of of passengers stranded was on account of an influence surge that brought on alerts to cease working within the Edinburgh space, Network Rail mentioned.

The fault was reported at about 4.50pm, with a specialist engineer arriving onsite at about 7pm.

Network Rail mentioned because of the complicated nature of the fault, trains have been unable to run for the remainder of the night.

The main disruption means companies on Friday to and from Edinburgh Waverley should be affected.

Liam Sumpter, Network Rail Scotland route director, mentioned: “We’d urge passengers travelling on Friday morning to check with National Rail Enquiries or their train operator before they set off for the latest information.”

Train operators affected (ScotRail, London North Eastern Railway, TransPennine Express, CrossCountry, Lumo, Avanti West Coast and Caledonian Sleeper) mentioned they’re working to maintain passengers on the transfer, although rail alternative transport is proscribed.
