Reform ‘could really hurt Tories’ as support hits record high
Nigel Farage claimed the Tories are “tearing themselves into pieces” over the Lee Anderson row amid hypothesis the previous deputy chairman of the Conservative Party might be part of Reform UK.
Mr Farage, the honorary president of Reform, stated he had “no idea” if Mr Anderson might defect as he highlighted Tory divisions.
Asked what he had heard in regards to the potential transfer, Mr Farage instructed GB News: “No concept. I don’t know what is occurring. I’m the honorary president, I’m letting Richard Tice get on with operating the factor and from what I can see he’s doing fairly a very good job of it.
“So I do not know myself what will occur in that regard. But is the Conservative Party wanting on the Lee Anderson row, to a barely lesser diploma the Paul Scully row, and seeing Tory MPs and friends lining as much as condemn Anderson, others lining as much as say ‘for goodness sake reinstate the whip’, they do seem as a celebration to be actually tearing themselves to items over this.”
Mr Anderson misplaced the Tory whip after failing to apologise for claiming “Islamists” had “got control” of Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London.
It emerged yesterday that he had held non-public talks with Mr Tice, with the pair having reportedly met on Sunday at a Holiday Inn resort, at junction 28 of the M1.
