Sony has reportedly based a brand new studio inside PlayStation, made up of former Deviation Games workers.
That’s in line with Michael Anthony, a former Deviation Games worker on Linkedin.
“Hey, I hear that a lot of previous Deviation Games employees have setup their own studio at Sony working on an undisclosed new IP,” he wrote on the platform.
“All the people I see working there that have signed up are top-class developers and hope that you can create a top-class new IP with your studio that hopefully gives you all the time you need to create a quality product and not have to deal with red tape from previous projects.”
Deviation Games, which was based in 2020 by two skilled Call of Duty builders, didn’t get an opportunity to launch its debut undertaking, an unique IP that was set to be unique to PlayStation platforms.
In September 2022, considered one of Deviation Games’ co-founders, chief inventive officer Jason Blundell, left the studio.
It would seem that Jason Blundell is concerned within the new studio. Following Anthony’s posts, customers on social media highlighted a submit from former Deviation Games worker JC Farmer from December.
The submit learn: “I’ve been eager to say this for some time, however now I lastly can! I’m a Junior Game Designer @PlayStation Studios. And I work for Jason Blundell.”
Deviation was reportedly “over 100 strong” in 2021 when it signed the deal with Sony. At the time of its announcement, the studio advised GamesIndustry.biz that its PlayStation deal ensured “complete financial security for years and years to come”.
