The new game from Titanfall’s director is reportedly set in the same universe

Respawn Entertainment is reportedly engaged on a new game set in the Titanfall universe.

That’s in keeping with Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb, who was discussing Respawn’s present initiatives after it was confirmed that mum or dad firm Electronic Arts had cancelled a Star Wars FPS that had been in growth at the studio.

Announcing the game’s cancellation, EA leisure and know-how president Laura Miele stated it might enable the Apex Legends maker to give attention to new initiatives primarily based on “Respawn’s rich library of owned brands”, in addition to current sequence like Star Was Jedi.

Last yr, Respawn boss Vince Zampella stated a “very small” staff was in the early phases of growing an authentic IP at the studio. The “skunkworks” staff was being led by Steve Fukuda, the game director of Titanfall and Titanfall 2, and “the mission is to find the fun in something new,” he informed Axios.

Seemingly referring to the same challenge throughout the newest episode of Game Mess Mornings, Grubb prompt it had entered a new prototyping section.

“There are always conversation about Titanfall 3. Whenever I do look into it, they’re not making Titanfall 3, they just straight up aren’t,” he stated on the topic of Respawn’s present initiatives.

“They do have one other staff that has been kicking round a skunkworks challenge, that was in very early [prototyping]. There’s completely different phases of prototyping, there’s a really early, very small staff prototyping section, and now they’re going to go to a wider, like this is an actual challenge now, however nonetheless in the prototyping section, and that has occurred with that game, and that is from the director of the authentic Titanfall.

“This game, because it stands at this time, so far as I perceive, is a ‘Titanfall game’, it’s in the Titanfall universe. But everybody I discuss to retains saying, nicely it’s not, don’t get in you’re thoughts that it’s Titanfall 3, like a game with on-line multiplayer and a single-player marketing campaign. I’m like, nicely wait, what, then how is, what is this game? I nonetheless don’t know.”

“But it feels like, if you are trying to go all-in on your own IP, just expand that into being Titanfall 3, figure out a way to make that happen,” he continued.

“And then I’m reminded that they were working on Titanfall 3 essentially with Titanfall Legends, which was going to be a part of Apex Legends, and they pulled the rug out from underneath that, so it seems very unlikely that they would change their strategy and go back and actually end up making Titanfall 3.”

Last February, Bloomberg reported that EA had cancelled Titanfall Legends, an unannounced Apex Legends game that had been in growth at Respawn.

Grubb subsequently reported that the challenge was Respawn’s try at getting a “Titanfall-feeling” single-player expertise within its massively in style free-to-play multiplayer spin-off, Apex Legends.

The marketing campaign would’ve included characters from Apex Legends, and in addition BT, the titan companion featured in Titanfall 2’s story. Players would play as Apex Legends character Blisk, and navigate the world with and improve BT, it was claimed.

“They were going to have the legends show up and give you special powers throughout the game, so they could tie it to Apex Legends in a really strong way,” Grubb claimed.

“The thinking there was that more people have played Apex Legend than have ever heard of Titanfall, so they were really going to lean into that.”
