Labour’s shadow immigration minister stated half of the British voters have “xenophobic” views on the subject, writes Dominic Penna.
Speaking at a fringe occasion on the get together’s annual convention in Liverpool, Stephen Kinnock criticised remarks made by Suella Braverman, the Home Secretary, in varied speeches she has made in current weeks.
“It was a new low – I say that resignedly, as we’ve seen many, many new lows,” Mr Kinnock instructed a Hope Not Hate panel.
He added: “We ain’t seen nothing but. They will cease at nothing to divide our communities and discover points that they suppose will fireplace up their base. Their insurance policies on asylum and immigration are being pushed totally by Machiavellian insurance policies.
“There are segments of the voters that have very progressive views on immigration, there are segments of the voters who need a managed and compassionate strategy… I’m afraid there’s a phase of the voters which, I’m afraid, is xenophobic and has a view on immigration that’s basically mirrored in what Suella Braverman stated.”
