Tories have taken ‘wrecking ball’ to criminal justice system, claims Yvette Cooper

Yvette Cooper accused the Tories of taking a “wrecking ball to the criminal justice system” as she claimed Labour was the “true party of law and order”.

Addressing Labour activists on the social gathering’s convention in Liverpool this morning, the shadow dwelling secretary mentioned: “They have taken a wrecking ball to the criminal justice system. So 90 per cent of crimes now go unsolved.

“More criminals let off, extra victims let down and , criminals as we speak are lower than half as doubtless to be caught as they had been underneath the final Labour authorities.

“That is the size of the collapse in legislation and order underneath this Tory authorities. Criminals laughing on the legislation, communities paying the worth.”

Ms Cooper additionally claimed the Tories had been “weak on crime, weak on the causes of crime” as she flipped Sir Tony Blair’s well-known “tough on crime” slogan.

She added: “Labour: The true party of law and order, giving our children their future back, giving our country its future back. That is what the next Labour government will do.”
